Looks believable enough to me. You've done a good job at avoiding the uncanny valley, but I fear your avatar is just a little too simple for my tastes. It's definitely not a bad avatar by any means! I just think you could have been more courages with the outfit and background.

@ By Torr; Not a fan of the hair colour, especially the strawberry blonde eyebrows, but she's otherwise good looking. I think you could probably choose a better pose though, I think that her smile has pushed her cheek up too high and created some odd proportions; which is a fault of the EVE character creation, not your own.. but you can combat that by changing her angle slightly.
It's by no means a bad avatar. I actually quite like it, so 7/10. |

You've got yourself a very polished and tidy looking avatar. Everything seems to go really well; the scar, the tattoo and the mohawk all match this characters appearance very well. I love the lighting and the skin tone. There isn't really anything I don't like about your avatar.. and I'm really trying to be picky; so on that note I'll give you a big fat 9.5/10. |

Something doesn't sit right. I can't make my mind up if it's her jaw line, cheeks or just the hairstyle you've chosen for her. It's a shame really, because I should like her, but I don't? I'd strongly recommend choosing a style that compliments her face shape better. Other than that I can't see much else particularly wrong.. so 7/10. |

I've seen you on the screen in my Captains Quarters! You have a rather large Bounty on your head!
Anyway, I'll skip to your Avatar. I love the look you've gone for; it's serious and somewhat sinister. There's an obvious beauty behind the character, but it's hidden behind the dark make-up and bleach blonde hair. Personally I'd have chosen a different colour and hair style, but that's just me.
I see nothing wrong here, so I'll give you a near perfect 9.5/10! |

There's something very strange about his look that somehow reminds me of Russell Crowe? Strange..
I like him though. Face is fine, hair goes well with the beard, not a huge fan of the eyes, but that's down to personal preference.. and I think you've done a great job with his outfit. I think you could do better with the pose and lighting though.

It's hard to get that kind of hair to work Zera, so well done for getting that right.. but the goggles don't seem to fit here. I've seen people use the goggle and make them work, but in this instance I think you'd do better without them. The background doesn't mould well either, but as far as the character herself goes.. and as far as I can tell; she looks pretty.
Do away with the goggle, mess about with the pose and maybe change the background; and I'll happily give you a 7.5/10. |

Looks like a believable chap. Sure he needs to comb his hair once in a while and maybe catch a little sun, but as far as avatars go, you're definately onto a winner. I'd reconsider the tattoos if it were me and I'm not a fan of the fake backgrounds as a whole.. that's down to personal preference though.
Oh, he also kind of looks like he's stuck in some constant surprised state. You should toy with the pose a touch! That said.. I really like this avatar and I'm going to give you a 7.5/10 Pickles! |

Gobla, be sure to come back if you do change the background and tattoos. I'd like to see what changes you've made! ..and thanks for the comments. Sarah has been called generic, fake, too smooth, too good looking, unrealistic and schoolgirl like before, but never 'too perfect'.. I'm going to try and take that as a compliment! Hah.
Serena Serene! You know, I don't think I've ever rated yours yet, so here goes!
One of my very favourites! Up there with that pale Kate Beckinsale look-alike, Gensing and Ariel Dawn. Your freckles and skin tone make you look real and human. The hair is cheeky and well suited; it's also a really courageous move, since nobody ever pulls that hair off.. but somehow you've nailed it!
The background compliments your avatar nicely. Like I said earlier, I'm not a huge fan of the fake backdrops, but this one seems to work. The clash of colours and the reserved, calm pose all work really well.. I actually hate your avatar because it's so hard to rate! I can't find anything wrong with it.. so..
0/10..
I'm just kidding. It's a well deserved 9.5 Pickles! |

Back off everyone. She's mine! Been looking forward to Ginseng; another of my favourites! The hair, the skin, the make-up and the piercings all go together really well.. but I think the thing that does it for me is the badass subtle smile and the aviators. She looks really cool.
You can't really see the scar from the small forum image, but it adds a lot of character. I honestly don't know what I'd change about yours? Maybe the background? ..but I don't know what to?
Anyway, I love the avatar Ginseng. 9.2/10 Pickles! |

Ishtanchuk Fazmarai, there seems to be something off with the lips that I can't put my finger on. The only other two complaints I have is that hair style for one; it's very rare anyone here can get that style to work.. it looks unfinished and oddly cut. Then your pose is rather basic.. not bad by any means, just uninteresting. There's potential here, but as it stands I'll give you 5/10.
Mizhir, you have a really nice face! I actually really like the tattoos and hair. They suit your character perfectly, but she's doing something weird with her lips and you might have made her squint a little too much. I'm also not a huge fan of the eye make-up you've chosen. It doesn't mould well with the rest of her complexion.
There's nothing here you can't fix with a little tweak in the changing room though; you're lucky enough here to have a gorgeous face. Spend a little more time getting the pose right and you'll be scoring very high.. at least with me. As it stands; 7/10. Pickles! |

You look like Dave Franco! Not a bad thing mind you. Lighting, pose and clothing are all top notch. You blend well with the backing, which is a big plus.. but about your nose; it looks big and fat and fake. Obviously you can't do anything about it now, that stage of creation is set in stone, but you could perhaps choose a pose where it isn't as dominant?
Overall I like your avatar.. if not for that pesky nose. I'll give you a solid 8/10. Pickles! |

Chatte Noire, you've got yourself a very unique avatar there! The face is fine; she's believably realistic, and she has a good natural complexion too.. but there's something I can't quite put my finger on. I think she looks like too much of a mixed bag; what I mean is that her tattoo, piercings and coloured funky hair style are just too much. There's too much going on for someone who seems to have a rather reserved, emotionless expression.
Toy with the background a little and perhaps look at trying out some new colours; opposites work best, so check out a colour wheel and go from there. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little more time on the character creation screen! 6/10.
Aspalis! I don't usually skip back this far, but I absolutely love your avatar and just wanted to say a few things about it. You don't need tips from me how to make a good looking avatar, obviously.. you've created something unique and beautiful there. It's a very sombre and dark mood, it all comes together perfectly; the tattoos, the lighting and the courageous use of purple lipstick. I envy your talent and I'm going to, for the first time, give you a perfect; 10/10.
Edit; I'll write one up for you now Tuireann Naari! You jumped in while I was typing my essay! Pickles! |

Hey CCP Affinity! Could you help us host a best looking avatar thread? I wanted to start one up. I'll provide PLEX for the winner. I just wanted someone with authority to make the decision instead of holding a vote.
As for your avatar; she's very cute and her skin tone and complexion make her look like she's based on a real person. The only thing that looks odd is the hair. I don't mind that it's dark, just the fact that it's complete black and has no texturing to it because of it. Move her into the middle and bring her pretty face a little closer to the camera and you have yourself a gorgeous and near flawless avatar! 8/10!

I want to pitch in, but I've already rated yours Tuireann, so I'll skip up to Rakael;
Rakael has a long nose, so a cut off fringe really squares her face up and draws too much attention to it. Try a shorter style and maybe something lighter? I think the main problem is that you've overdone it on the make-up. The heavy blush and bright lipstick makes her look like one of two things; a drag queen or a prostitute.. or both?
I hope you don't think I'm being mean, because I'm not. I'm just hoping you'll read this and decided to spend a little more time perfecting her. I hate to see an avatar with lots of potential wasted.
I could give Rakael a high score, but as she is now? I think a generous 6/10. Pickles! |

Hello Alva! I like your mouth and the nose.. but I'm finding it hard to get a real idea of what he looks like. His chin seems pretty huge, but that could just be the angle? I'm a big fan of using shadows to add depth to a characters look, but here you've overdone it a little; the shadows are hiding most of his features and it leaves a little too much to the imagination.
His clothing seems to fit nicely and the hair, however common it may be, happens to work pretty well here. What I'd do is change the angle a little. Give him a pose that isn't so expressionless and definitely work on the lighting!
I see an avatar with potential, but at the moment I can't help but give you a rather mediocre 5.5/10. Pickles! |

Benjamin, from a glance you have yourself some sort of hardened, rugged war veteran clich+¬; and it seems to work really well. I pulled up the 1024 version and suddenly changed my opinion. Your avatar has a very masculine and hard face; a strong jawline and cheekbones that would put a certain member of the Verve to shame, but it all seems a little out of place..
The frown, the mechanical eye and the scar all tell me that this character is one nasty piece of work, but then he's smartly dressed, clean shaven and has an immaculate hairline; suddenly he looks rather odd.. I guess the thing that bugs me the most is the earring, which is the most misplaced of the lot.
I know I shouldn't downgrade for your unique approach, but the whole things just doesn't gel well with me. Great face! Great expression and lighting, just a shame about his accessories and attire. I'll give you 7/10. Pickles! |

I really like this one, Jax. Unfortunately the small forum avatar doesn't do the full picture justice. It happens a lot actually; some people make a perfect looking portrait and forget that the forum avatar is downscaled. In this case you can barely notice some of her main character building traits, like her piercings and scar.
That all said, she's still pretty.. but not too pretty. It's a good thing that you have yourself an avatar that's attractive, but not a space barbie. I also love the tattoos and use of eye-liner.
If I were given a shot and bettering this avatars though, I'd sort the framing out; it looks strangely odd that you've centred her body, but not the thing you should be focusing on; her face. I'd move her to the middle and bring her a slight touch closer to the camera, but other than that there's nothing for me to say here. Good work! 8.5/10. Pickles! |

Vagilicious, bit of a wild one here. I keep looking at your avatar and can't make up my mind what I don't like about her; but if I had to guess, I'd say she appears a little overwhelming and nothing seems to match. The red dreads work fine and blend well with her attire, but her make-up seems off and the tattoo is out of place.
As a rule; opposite colours work well. Check out a colour wheel and see if you can improve her make-up a little. I'd also consider removing the tattoo.. but other than that, she has a believable face and both the pose and lighting seem fine too. I want to give you more, but as it stands I think a 6.5/10 is fair.
Ianyale; I really don't like those background, but that's just my personal opinion. She has a cute face though and the general structure doesn't seem so bad; she does however have very flat cheekbones, it isn't really a problem, you just need to find your characters good side; try facing her face on to the camera and she where that gets you. I'd also play around with her expression, because right now nothing really jumps out at me.. she seems rather bland.
The hair is fine and the tattoos are okay; just play with her pose a little and I'm sure you can get something much better out of her. 6.5/10. Pickles! |

I'm not big enough to throw rocks.. so I stick to small pebbles.
I always try and give constructive feed-back though, so I'll have a stab at rating yours for you Eija.
She has a very square face; a somewhat masculine face in actual fact, so the cut off square fringe isn't helping. That hair style is further adding to your characters imperfections, I'd change it for something longer perhaps. While you were creating her I noticed you'd allowed her shoulders to drop down into a slouch; either that or it's just the pose; either way I'd change her pose to something less effortless.
Her eyes and nose seem fine, I can't really grumble there and her lips are good too.. she just needs a smile or some form of expression, right now she looks fixed in some blank emotionless frown.. if that makes any sense at all? Cheer her up and maybe tone down the lipstick and you'll have yourself a nice avatar Eija.
There's potential here, but you might also want to work on your framing. She's too far off to the left. I hope you do decided to take me up on some of these pointers. If you do, you should come back here for a second review! 5/10. Pickles! |

Rohks! I'm so glad you changed your avatar. This one looks so much better than the last one. I mean, she still has a big chin, but it's nothing noticable.. really. You've done a really great job with the lighting, the shadows and the pose; it's that slight smile that really lights up the whole thing for me.
I'm trying to be picky, but there's nothing I can really say about this; you've done a great job. 9/10! Pickles! |

Xinivrae! Why.. your avatar was one of my favourites..
Ishtanchuk, I could probably spell your name with my leftover scrabble pieces, but to the avatar! I'll start with the most striking aspect of this face; the tattoos. They're well suited, but I don't quite agree on the colour. I'd try black, it might better compliment her dark features. The background fits well and her attire too, she's a pretty one, but a little emotionless. Try bringing her to life with a smile or what not.
This isn't by any means my favourite avatar, but neither is it a bad one! 6.5/10.
Oh, and Xinivrae, enter my competition. Pickles! |
